“This all started at the Champions gathering in Houston. I saw how everyone in attendance was in incredible shape and I was at my very worst. The question regarding competing at a Masters Games was posed and my ego answered, so I could not turn back. It became real when I stepped back into the dojang and realized how far out of shape I was, even though round is a shape. Two years prior I had back surgery to repair two badly herniated discs and two degenerative discs. I wasn’t sure how the back was going to hold up, however I realized as I continued to train that it was the BEST thing for my back. Strengthening my core was paramount to my successful weight loss; to date I have lost a total of 74 pounds and I am looking to continue to trim and tone. Many times in the past I made US Cup Team and other various teams, however my family was not financially able to allow me to participate. The experience given through Masters Team (and these WONDERFUL family members) cannot be described in words. I would like to thank USA Masters Team and credit Trinity Osborn and Wayne DeRosa for re-lighting the fire that had been dormant for so long.”
